Acupuncture

Chinese and other eastern peoples have been using acupuncture to restore, promote and maintain good health for more than two thousand years. Acupuncture is rooted in the Daoist philosophy of change, growth, balance and harmony. “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine” which dates from 300BC outlines the principals of acupuncture together with the pathology and physiology which provide the foundation for acupuncture today.

Acupuncture can be useful in many ways, it can help in the treatment of pain, it can be used for patients suffering from Musculo-skeletal problems, it can be useful in the treatment of patients suffering from systemic disease and it is used in the treatment of addictions.

Chinese Medicine

Our Practitioner is qualified in both Western and Chinese Medicine. He has worked in a prominent Beijing hospital as a Consultant Neurologist.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a long history. Practitioners believe that all illnesses arise from an imbalance in the human body systems, this can be caused by dysfunction of the internal organs and/or changes in the environment. Treatments used to restore balance include herbal medicine, manipulative techniques, theraputic exercises, Qi-Gong and Tai Chi Chuan, acupressure and acupuncture.

In the last few decades modern scientific research has been applied to Traditional Chinese Medicine. These studies show that certain herbs have antibiotic properties, others can improve the immune system and some are able to suppress cancer cells. Acupuncture and Acupressure can relieve symptoms via their effects on the nervous system and other body systems.
